If Real ID is disabled, all friend requests will only use your BattleTag. Social in no way means that a person should be forced to Socialize every time they log into a "Social" game no more then they should have to answer their phone when "That Friend" who can't go 10 minutes without talking to someone calls. With the Real ID feature enabled, you can choose to share your real name on a case-by-case basis when sending or accepting friend requests.
